An Alberta Certificate of Status is obtained from the Alberta government. It can sometimes be called a Certificate of Compliance or a Certificate of Good Standing. Any company incorporated in Canada can obtain a certificate of status for its jurisdiction. In Alberta they are called Certificate of Status.
You may need to order an Alberta Certificate of Status when some other company or government office requests you to provide proof your Alberta company is in compliance with all of its filings and statute requirements.
An Alberta Certificate of Status will tell you whether the company has done all of its corporate filings and whether it is still an active company.
