You'll find that a great number of people think that acne is only found in teenagers. A condition called adult acne does exist, and it's just a simple matter of distinction. In various stages of life acne can affect people. However you'd be right to say that acne seems to affect teens more than adults. What may happen is the acne from the teen years can carry on into the adult years. There is no set reason as to why this can happen, there are many various factors that can add to this. So the best thing to do for anybody with acne would be to simply get some advice from a dermatologist. By doing this you'll be able to ensure that the treatment you're receiving is correct.

One of the best approaches is a healthy skin care regimen. Most of the time, this will help stay off most of the acne that would develop because your skin is properly cleansed. People that have oily skin are typically more prone to developing acne, which, indirectly, reveals your skin type. Once you know your skin type, easy to develop the skin care program that you need to. Usually, the more expensive the skincare product is, the fewer harsh chemicals there will be in the solution.

People that have suffered with acne, and have developed scars, should understand that an excessive amount of collagen is to blame. Obviously, people that have these types of scars do not want to have them at all. Depending upon the size of the scar, you may be very concerned or not concerned at all.

High levels of hormone change can also be a contributor to the development of acne on a person. Hormonal changes are often associated with menstrual or puberty cycles that occur in some people. Androgen, a hormone that is produced in great quantities during puberty, may cause acne because of follicular gland growth. The net result from that is more sebum production which can combine with other factors to produce acne. Bodybuilders and weightlifters might see their acne increase if they use anabolic steroids when they do their workouts which increase androgen levels. Two types of testosterone can actually lead to increased levels of acne on your skin and on your body.

Different types of scarring can result from the numerous varieties of acne. A very recognizable type of scar is called the "rolling scar" and you will realize you are very familiar with this type of scar when we give an example. The rolling scar is that type that makes the skin look like it has bumps in it and almost wavy type of texture. The "ice pick" scar is also very common. I probably don't have to explain what ice pick scars look like, as it's easy to figure out from the name. The surface of your skin becomes pitted with these very deep scars. These holes are small and they go deep into the skin. What most teens and even adults try to do is evacuate the spot if they have acne. But, squeezing will simply cause inflammation if the comedone is closed. There are no ways of bringing a deep blockage to the surface, so squeezing will only make everything a lot worse.
