One of the most popular business management strategies is Six Sigma lean training. Here, six sigma refers to a step by step method for improvement of measurable results for every organization. On the other hand, lean talks of the procedures for identification of sources and activities which cannot create maximum productivity and profit. It was developed by Motorola in 1986, and started to be popular after Jack Welch used it as a way of making his business strategy at General Electric in 1995. Now, it is used in most of the industries.

If any organization wants to satisfy customer, improve quality, find right activities and sources and make a profit, this kind of program is the best way for achieving so. Because of this, many business people who wants to start own organization; take this learning process as a basic. However, some of those who already own some company, are going through this program to improve their work.

There are two methodologies for going through this learning process i. E., DMAIC and DMADV. First one is used for projects aimed at improving an existing business process, and DMADV is used for projects aimed at creating new product or process designs. The DMAIC project has five phases namely define, measure, analyze, improve, and control. The DMADV includes define, measure, analyze, design, and verify.

To achieve all these skills, every leader has to go through trainee programs and get certification. First tutelage is called Green Belt Training, where participants actively learn about the tools of process improvement which provides them the opportunity to put these skills to use in a dynamic real-time environment. Other teaching, Black Belt, is an interactive.

All those learning processes are not that complicated and they are easy to learn. But, have it on your mind. Think about implementing gained skills into your plans. So, when learning finishes, participants demonstrate gained knowledge and if they pass, they get certificate called Green Belt Certificate or Black Belt Certificate.

A lot of people have been trained trough this program, there are 1.5 million green belts and 250,000 black belts, but are companies getting results they hoped for? We can see that when it comes to the getting results from this program, there are different stories. Some people are certified, but never started to do project.

Like any other program, this program has its disadvantages. So there are some critics from experts. Some say that it has lack of originality, while some argue there are negative effects, not enough systematic documentation, and also that it is based on arbitrary standards. However, if we observe everything regarding to the quality of this training, advantages overcome disadvantages.

No matter what criticisms say, Six Sigma lean training is known as a great way for everyone who wants to improve their knowledge. This refers on how to identify and eliminate sources of waste and activities that do not add value to create maximum productivity for their existing or future company. Yet, it is not only necessary to get a certificate, but to make projects and implement skills gained during the training. You will see great results.
