Horse stall cleaning is very necessary to ensure that your horse is at its best performance. The animal is likely to be in its stable for most of the hours in a day. This requires the stable to be kept in a good condition. When it is unclean, your pony can contract diseases such as hoof problems and pneumonia. The stable also has unpleasant smell and this makes it unfavorable for the horse and also for you.

There are some factors that determine how clean the stable can be. One of these factors is the type of bedding used on the floor of the stall. There are many types of bedding that can be used. Some people use a bare concrete or wooden floor. These are easier to clean but can hurt the animal due to its hardness. Others use straw, wood shavings and sawdust.

The activity of clearing the stall is not that easy. It can be made more difficult when one has a number of horses. In order to ensure the best health conditions, the cleaning must be done daily. This is however not always possible since one may be limited by time. A thorough clean-up is necessary whenever you have enough time.

The best time to clean is when the equine is out grazing. There is a simple procedure that can be followed. There are some things that you should have for the job. Protective dressing composed of some boots, a pair of gloves and an apron are necessary. The other tools that one must have are a fork, a shovel and a wheelbarrow.

There is a simple procedure that should be followed. One should start by removing the feeding and watering trays. Use the fork to dig into the sawdust or shavings. Lift the waste into the wheelbarrow using the shovel to a height that you can push. Then transport the waste to a manure pile. For concrete and wooden floors, a hard broom is used to scrub off the manure.

The above procedure has to be repeated to ensure that you do a thorough job. Make sure that there is no any wet manure that is left even in the hidden places. The space should then be allowed to air out for some time. Clean bedding should then be added and spread evenly all over the stable.

The thickness of the bedding you place will also be determined by the type of floor that lies underneath and the season. If the weather is cold, more bedding should be added to keep the animal warm, especially if the floor is concrete. The cleanup should be done regularly. Use hard brooms to scrub out all the remnants every time you clean.

Horse stall cleaning must be done to ensure the animal is in good health. The activity may take some effort but it is worth the time. One can also hire specialists to do the work if you are not available. When the cleaning has been done regularly and disinfectants applied, one can rest assured that their horse is comfortable.
