Tips On Fiber Optic Installation

Technology has moved almost everything to a different height making things simpler and even those which were impossible to do are today easy and effective. The same has happened in making internet connections in our homes and in other places around the world through fiber optic installation. This is the same process as that used to lay any other cable for connection.

There are also different ways in which this task is taken depending on the application. Some ore placed underground while others are placed under water. The ones underground is made for connections on outside the house while the other is used for in-house connections. However, the availability of different types of cables has led to different rules in fitting. Below are guidelines which must be followed despite the type of cable to be used.

The first step is to survey the site. This will help in knowing the basic tools needed for the site familiarizing with the site and conducting a search for the best place to place it per the required need. This also helps in knowing the placements of the machine when excavation or the route under water.

The second requirement is coming up with wire stretching plan. The requirements on the methods to be used in pulling the cable during the fitting is very important and should be done before the process begins so you can decide on type of machine you want.

At some points during the installation, lead will have to be bent and twisted hence the need to have appropriate apparatus for the action. This should be done very carefully since if you twist the wire wrongly, it will break. Therefore, the best tip to keep in mind is that the cable should bend to twenty times the radius while the 10 times the line diameter.

When stretching and pulling the wire, there might be a point where it gets a scratch which although the cable is waterproof, it will allow water or soil to make contact with the cable. Therefore, after you have placed it, make sure you test it for leakage. Make sure if you are doing underwater fitting you have emptied the pool until you are certain the wire is well covered and there is no any possible electrification in the pool after the water is put in.

The last step is to test the accuracy and effectiveness before letting anyone use it to prevent damage. This process is carried out using different methods which are to proof it has been placed properly without scratches. The tools used to check this is magnifying glasses to determine the defect made from the installation and the other is the optical time sphere used for checking the length.

Remember there are guidelines on lying line and the technique used in this process is different from any other cable installation. The method used in lying is known as splicing which lowers the loss of insertion. This method is done in two ways. The first one is fusion splicing which is used for joining wire by electric arc while the other is mechanical splicing which is used to fasten the cable permanently.
